Özet
Bu çalışmada; dericilik zanaatının tarihsel gelişiminin incelenmesi ve dericiliğin Türk Kültürel mirası kapsamında yeri ve öneminin değişen üretim yöntemleri üzerinden değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın önemi, giderek azalan deri zanaatının gelişen üretim yöntemleri sürecinin araştırılması ve literatüre kazandırılmasıdır. Özellikle sanayi devrimi sonrası makineleşmenin artması endüstriyel üretimin ortaya çıkmasına sebep olmuştur. Dericilik sektörü de makineleşme etkisiyle üretim yöntemlerinde değişikliğe gitmiştir. Çalışma, doküman incelemeleri, saha araştırmaları ve uzman görüşmeleri yoluyla, dericilik sektörünün tarihsel süreçteki evrimini ve mevcut durumunu kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirmiştir. Ayrıca bu çalışma da deriye alternatif gösterilen vegan deriye de değinilmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalar ve görüşülen katılımcıların verdiği bilgiler doğrultusunda; deri malzemesinin çeşitleri, zanaat eğitim alanları ve bilgilendirmeler arttıkça genç tasarımcıların bu zanaatı öğrenme oranında da artış olabileceği öngörülmektedir. Bu tezin, dericilik sektörünün teknolojik değişimlere ayak uydurup bu zanaatı kendi içinde geliştirerek devam ettirdiğine ulaşılması varsayılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak; bu çalışma, dericilik zanaatının geçmişten günümüze geçirdiği dönüşümü analiz ederek, bu zanaatın kültürel miras ve endüstriyel tasarım açısından önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışmanın, sektörde faaliyet gösteren tasarımcılar, zanaatkarlar ve akademisyenler için rehber niteliğinde bir kaynak oluşturması hedeflenmektedir.

In this study, the aim is to examine the historical development of the leather craft and to evaluate its place and importance within the scope of Turkish cultural heritage through the lens of evolving production methods. The significance of this study lies in researching the declining art of leather crafting in the context of advancing production techniques and contributing to the existing literature. Particularly, the increase in mechanization following the Industrial Revolution led to the emergence of industrial production. The leather sector also underwent changes in its production methods under the influence of mechanization. This study comprehensively evaluates the historical evolution and current status of the leather industry through document analysis, field research, and expert interviews. Additionally, the study addresses vegan leather, which is presented as an alternative to traditional leather. Based on the research conducted and the information provided by participants, it is predicted that as the variety of leather materials, training opportunities in the craft, and informational resources increase, young designers' interest in learning this craft will also grow. It is hypothesized that this thesis will conclude that the leather industry has adapted to technological changes and continued to develop this craft within its own framework. In conclusion, this study analyzes the transformation of leather crafting from past to present, highlighting its significance in terms of cultural heritage and industrial design. It aims to serve as a guide and resource for designers, artisans, and academics active in the sector.
