Özet
Yapılan bu çalışmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin ve ebeveynlerinin problemli cep telefonu kullanımı ile öğrencilerin okul başarılarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya Ordu İli Perşembe İlçesindeki ortaokullarda öğrenim gören 191 kız ve 151 erkek öğrenci ile öğrenci velileri katılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama sürecinde“Kişisel Bilgi Formu”ile“Problemli Cep Telefonu Kullanım Ölçeği”kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde SPSS 25.0 programında frekans analizi, tanımlayıcı istatistik, Independent t test, One Way ANOVA analizi ile korelasyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda öğrencilerin cep telefonu kullanma amaçlarının başında iletişim kurma, oyun oynama, on- line sohbet etme ve sosyal medyada paylaşım yapmanın geldiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada öğrencilerin ve ebeveynlerinin problemli cep telefonu kullanma düzeylerinin orta seviyede olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerde problemli cep telefonu kullanma düzeyi ile akademik başarı arasında negatif yönde anlamlı ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanında anne ve babaların bazı demografik özelliklerine göre öğrencilerin problemli cep telefonu kullanma düzeylerinin anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, ortaokul öğrencilerinde problemli cep telefonu kullanımının okul başarısını olumsuz yönde etkilediği söylenebilir. The aim of this study is to examine the problematic cell phone use of middle school students and their parents and the students' academic success. 191 female and 151 male students who study at middle schools and their parents participated in the study in Perşembe district of Ordu province. In the data collection process of the study,“Personal Information Form”and“Problematic Cell Phone Use Scale”were used. In the analysis of the obtained data, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Independent t test, One Way ANOVA analysis and correlation analysis were used in SPSS 25.0 program. At the end of the study, it was determined that the main purposes of students' cell phone use were communication, playing games, chatting online and sharing on social media. In the study, it was determined that the problematic cell phone use levels of students and their parents were at a moderate level. It was determined that there was a negative significant relationship between the problematic cell phone use level of students and academic success. In addition, it was found that the problematic mobile phone use levels of students differ significantly according to some demographic characteristics of mothers and fathers. As a result, it can be said that problematic mobile phone use in middle school students negatively affects academic success.
