Özet
İşsizlik, gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerde sosyal ve ekonomik açıdan önemli bir olgudur. Bu kapsamda, önemli olan konulardan biri de genç işsizliğidir. Öyle ki, genç işsizliği birçok ülkede ciddi boyutlara ulaşmış ve önemli bir sorun haline gelmeye devam etmektedir. Bu sorunun çözümünde en çok öne çıkan araçlardan biri ise eğitimdir. Bu çalışmada, eğitim düzeylerinin genç işsizlik üzerindeki etkisinin araştırılması amaçlamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, 2001-2022 yılları arasındaki veriler kullanılarak, gelişmekte olan 21 ülkede eğitim düzeyleri ve genç işsizlik arasındaki ilişki panel veri analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, İlköğretim ve ortaöğretim düzeyinde eğitim ile genç işsizlik arasında uzun dönemli bir ilişki bulunurken, yükseköğretim düzeyinde ise böyle bir ilişkiye rastlanmadığını göstermektedir. Ayrıca, nedensellik analizine göre, ortaöğretim ve yükseköğretimden genç işsizliğe doğru tek yönlü; ilköğretim ile genç işsizlik arasında ise çift yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir.

Unemployment is an important sociologically and economically important phenomenon in developed and developing countries. In this context, one of the important issues is youth unemployment. So much so that youth unemployment has reached serious levels in many countries and continues to become a significant problem. One of the most prominent tools in solving this problem is education. This study aims to investigate the effect of education levels on youth unemployment. In this regard, using data between 2001 and 2022, the relationship between education levels and youth unemployment in 21 developing countries was examined by panel data analysis method. The findings show that while there is a long-term relationship between education and youth unemployment at the primary and secondary level, such a relationship is not found at the higher education level. Moreover, according to the causality analysis, it is unidirectional from secondary education and higher education to youth unemployment; A bidirectional causality relationship was determined between primary education and youth unemployment.
