The purpose of this thesis is to pinpoint words with French roots that have migrated into Turkish and are currently in usage. The words have been inspected under different categories such as verbs, vocation vocabulary, adjectives and the like. Despite the compartmentilization of the words, the volume great that a detailed study of all the words was not implemented as a result the focus of this study was to determine the words the are commonly in Turkish today despite being of foreign origin. A step further was to sud categorize by thier grammar and then a detailed study of these words and thier impact on the social activities in our lives. A questionnaire that was conducted at the French Cultural Centre on the students from different French proffiency levels namely A1,A2 and yound student group to see how many of them were aware of the roots of the words that they used on a daily basis. Three separate questionnare were used in this study. In the conclusion section the results of questionnare and their analyisis is clearly explained. The conclusion that unconcious knowledge of the roots of these words ultimately hepls in the learning of French can be drawn.
