Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı 6.Sınıf fen ve teknoloji dersi sistemler konusunda kavram karikatürleri kullanımının öğrencinin akademik başarısına etkisinin belirlenmesi ve kavram karikatürleri kullanımına yönelik öğrenci görüşlerinin ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda yapılandırmacı yaklaşım çerçevesinde fen ve teknoloji dersinde kavram karikatürlerinin kullanılması ele alınmıştır. Bunun için, çalışmanın İkinci bölümü olan kavramsal çerçevede fen bilgisi öğretim metodu, yapılandırmacı yaklaşım, kavram karikatürlerin özellikleri ve kavram karikatürlerin Türkiye'de kullanılması incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, araştırmada günümüze kadar olan dönemde fen bilgisi öğretiminde kavram karikatürlerinin kullanılması ile yaşanan gelişmelerle klasik öğretim yöntemleri arasındaki temel farklılıkları ortaya koymak amaçlanmış ve kavram karikatürlerin kullanılması ile ilgili öğrenci görüşleri analiz edilmiştir. 6. sınıf Sistemler ünitesinde kavram karikatürü kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarısına etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılan araştırmada Gaziantep ili Şehit Kamil ilçesinde bulunan Mehmet Çolakoğlu Ortaokulu'nda öğrenim gören 6. sınıftaki 25 deney grubu, 25 kontrol grubu öğrencileri ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada yarı deneysel desen, ön test- son test kontrol gruplu model kullanılmıştır. Sistemler konusu deney grubunda fen bilimleri dersi programı kavram karikatürleriyle desteklenerek, kontrol grubunda ise yalnızca fen bilimleri dersi programı kullanarak işlenmiştir. Araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen ve KR-20 güvenlik katsayısı 0.90 olan başarı testi, her iki grupta da ön ve son test olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda elde edilen veriler SPSS 18 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir Kavram karikatürleri ve başarı testlerinin uygulanmasından sonra, deney ve kontrol gruplarının ön ve son test testlerinin incelenmesi için t – testi, öğrencilerin kavram karikatürleri ile ilgili görüşlerinin verileri değerlendirilirken tanımlayıcı istatistiksel metotlar kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, deney ve kontrol grubunun başarı toplam son test ortalama puanları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca deney grubunun kendi içinde toplam ön ve son testleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Bu bulgulara göre, bu araştırmada, eğitimde kavram karikatürleri tekniğinin kullanımının geleneksel yöntemle işlenen derse göre, öğrenci başarısını arttırıcı etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin kavram karikatürü kullanımına yönelik görüşleri incelendiğinde ise, kavram karikatürleri ile işlenen derse daha istekli olarak katıldıklarını, dersi daha eğlenceli buldukları, dersi daha iyi anladıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.

The aim of this study is to define the effect of the use of cartoons on the academic achievement and to reveal the students' views on the use of concept cartoons in the 6th grade science and technology course. In this context within the frame of constructivist approach, usage of concept cartoons in science and technology course have been discoursed.Therefore in the second chapter of the thesis, in the literature part, science teaching method, constructivist approach, features of concept cartoons and the use of concept cartoons in Turkey were examined. Furthermore, it was aimed to reveal the fundamental differences between classical teaching methods and the developments that are accompanied by the use of concept cartoons in science education in the period until the present day, and student opinions about the use of concept cartoons have been analyzed. This research which was conducted to investigate the effect of concept cartoons use on the academic success of students in the 6th grade Systems unit, has been carried out by 25 experimental and 25 control group of 6th grade students in Mehmet Colakoglu secondary school in Şehit Kamil/Gaziantep. In the study, semi-experimental design, pre-test and post-test control group models were used. The unit of“Systems”in the science course were processed in the experimental group with support of the concept cartoons but the unit was processed in the control group by only using the traditional science curriculum. The achievement test, which was developed by the researcher and having a KR-20 reliability of coefficient was calculated as 0.85 was used as a pre- and post-test in both groups. The data obtained at the end of the study were analyzed with the SPSS 18 packet program. After application of concept cartoons and achievement tests, t - test was used for examination of pre - and post - test tests of experimental and control groups and descriptive statistical methods were used for evaluating the datas of the opinions of students about concept cartoons. As a result of the research, it was found that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups' success in total final test scores in favor of the experimental group. There was also a significant difference inside the experimental group between the total pre- and post-tests. According to this result, in this study, it was seen that the use of the concept caricatures technique in education was more successful in the achievements of the students rather than the traditional course. When the students' opinions about concept caricature were examined, it is revealed that they are more willing to participate in the lesson with concept cartoons, they find the lesson more fun and understand the lesson better.
