Özet (Çeviri)
Learning is the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience or being taught. Learners learn using some learning senses such as writing, seeing, listening and reading when they learn their native and foreign languages. When study, learners develop their own learning styles. Lerners choose either one or two learning styles or they even choose all the learning styles as multiple learning styles when they learn their native language and the second language in and out of the classroom. However, when the learners' learning style preferences mismatch their teacher's teaching styles then there is a problem in learning a language. In relation, the purpose of our research study is to identify freshman students' perceptual learning style preferences according to their gender, achievement and nationality differences at International University of Sarajevo. There are 139 participants in this reasearch. We used Joy Reid's Perceptual Learning Styles Questionnaire (1984) as an instrument in this quantitative research study. We also used SPSS, version 16, for the data analysis of the quantitative research methodology. We found the group learning style as the most preferred learning style, whereas auditory learning style is the least preferred learning style by freshman students. We recommend the perceptual learning style preferences and students should consider multiple learning styles. In addition, the learning styles and teaching styles questionnaires should be used in order to end the mismatch between teaching and learning styles and between teachers and students in all classrooms around the world. In this way, all students will learn properly what they need and all teachers will be aware of using the right teaching styles in order to teach their students who would like to learn properly.
