Özet
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin üst düzey beceriler geliştirmesine olanak sağlamak için Amerika'da kullanılan ve etkililiği kanıtlanmış olan Jacob's Ladder Okuma Programından yola çıkarak yeni bir zenginleştirilmiş okuma programı hazırlamak, bunu uygulamak ve programın etkililiğini istatistiksel sonuçlarla açıklamaktır. Bu sebeple ilkokul 3 ve 4. Sınıf seviyelerinde öğrenim gören özel yetenekli öğrenciler için Jacob's Ladder Okuma Programı mantığında zenginleştirilmiş bir program hazırlanmıştır. Çalışma, İzmir ilinde bulunan bir özel okulda gerçekleştirilmiştir. 3 ve 4. Sınıfa giden, tanılı, özel yetenekli 20 öğrenci çalışma grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu öğrenciler 10'u deney grubu, 10'u kontrol grubu olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Deney grubundaki öğrenciler, araştırmacı tarafından zenginleştirilen Jacob's Ladder Okuma Programı ile 8 hafta öğrenim görmüştür. Kontrol grubundaki öğrenciler ise kendi öğretmenleriyle var olan MEB müfredatına uygun öğrenimlerine devam etmişlerdir. Kontrol grubuna ve ders öğretmenine herhangi bir müdahalede bulunulmamıştır. Çalışma kapsamındaki verilerin toplanması için Okuma Tutumu Ölçeği ve Eleştirel Okuma Becerileri Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bu ölçekler, deney ve kontrol gruplarına ön – test ve son – test olarak iki kere uygulanmıştır. Ölçeklerden elde edilen veriler Wilcoxon İşaretlenmiş Mertebeler ve Mann Whitney – U yöntemleri ile istatistiksel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonuçlarına göre ilkokul 3 ve 4. Sınıf seviyesinde öğrenim gören, tanılı, özel yetenekli öğrencilere göre zenginleştirilerek hazırlanan Jacob's Ladder Okuma Programı; özel yetenekli öğrencilerin okuma tutumu ve eleştirel okuma becerilerini anlamlı seviyede arttırmıştır.

The primary aim of this study is to develop, implement, and statistically evaluate a new enriched reading program based on the Jacob's Ladder Reading Program, which is used in the United States and has proven effective for developing reading skills of gifted students. Thus, an enriched program has been prepared in the framework of the Jacob's Ladder Reading Program for gifted students in the 3rd and 4th grades of elementary school. The study was conducted at a private school in İzmir. The study group consisted of 20 identified gifted students in the 3rd and 4th grades. These students were divided into 10 in the experimental group and 10 in the control group. The students in the experimental group were taught using the enriched Jacob's Ladder Reading Program for 8 weeks by the researcher. The students in the control group continued their education according to the existing MEB curriculum with their own teachers. No intervention was made with the control group or their teachers. To collect data for the study, the Reading Attitude Scale and the Critical Reading Skills Scale were used. These scales were administered twice—both as pre-tests and post-tests—to the experimental and control groups. The data obtained from the scales were statistically analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney U Test. According to the results of the study, the enriched Jacob's Ladder Reading Program, designed for gifted students in the 3rd and 4th grades of elementary school, significantly improved the reading attitudes and critical reading skills of these gifted students.
