Vanadium oxide-based thin films have attracted considerable attention among semiconductor materials due to their optical and thermochromic properties, which vary with temperature changes. Among these oxides, vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) possesses the highest oxidation state and is the most stable phase under atmospheric conditions. In this thesis study, V₂O₅ thin films prepared by the spin coating technique were reduced in a hydrogen (H₂) atmosphere to obtain structures with near-stoichiometric VO₂ composition, and their temperature-dependent properties were investigated in detail. During this process, parameters such as reduction temperature and duration were systematically varied, and their effects on the metal-insulator transition (MIT) temperature of the resulting structures were evaluated. Accordingly, the crystal structures of the VO(2±x) phases formed under different reduction conditions, as well as their temperature-dependent optical transition properties, were thoroughly analyzed. In the experimental procedure, a solution prepared via the sol-gel method was deposited onto soda lime glass substrates using the spin coating technique. Parameters such as film homogeneity and thickness were optimized to improve the production process. The resulting thin films were subjected to thermal treatment under a reducing atmosphere. The optical properties of the prepared samples were analyzed using UV-Visible-NIR spectroscopy at various temperatures. Additionally, the crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and surface morphologies were examined in detail using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). As a result of this comprehensive characterization, the relationship between the physical properties and the performance of the obtained structures was revealed, providing valuable insights for sensor-based applications.
